Well, I’m finding out how much fun it is to get a routing issue resolved. What’s wrong is that it seems impossible to ping or traceroute (or send data over port 4554) to website.moneybar.net. This is a problem from my hosting account at site5.com as well as from home here in Vancouver (via Novuscom.net and Peer1). HTTP traffic is okay, and evidently pinging works from some other sites. Everyone says the issue is with someone else and that they have no problem. I’m waiting on yet another callback now. The first draft of the Money Bar interface is complete. The second generation is on the way. The second generation will be built around a generic xml based interface that connects to Squirrel and runs under Jetty. Now credit card, prepaid, and loyalty interfaces can be written in Java, will allow POS extensions with a central control point, and enhanced audit trails and controls. This framework should allow much more capable integration with processors and customers as well as access via browsers. Lot’s of fun and lot’s of work.
